RESEARCH I

 During my research i have learnt that there are different kinds of music videos. The three main being perfomance, narrative and conceptual.

PERFOMANCE

A performance based video usually involves the artist performing and singing the lyrics. The videos usually use a variety of different locations and outfits which reflect the atmosphere of the song. Various camera angles, movements and shots are also used in performance based videos which also help to reflect the atmosphere of the song, as well as helping to establish the artists identity

NARRATIVE

tells a story that typically follow the lyrics or relates to the lyrics. This It tells a story that shows or relates to the lyrics. This engages the audience to the video as they continuously watch what is going to happen next. The video could be an illustration of the lyrics, an amplification of the lyrics(the story is based on certain lyrics, but could also show other themes) or a disjuncture where the narrative and lyrics do not link.

CONCEPTUAL

 It is usually based around one unique idea or concept, which typically doesn't have any relation to the lyrics the song. The unique concept is usually what helps to attract audience to the song. Concept based videos can be thematic(based on a theme) or symbolic(symbols throughout the video create a certain meaning). They can be interpreted differently depending on an individual.
